🚨 Instagram Blue Tick Scam: Fake Verification Offers You Must Avoid

Instagram verification (blue tick) has become a status symbol that many users want today. Because of this growing demand, online scams related to Instagram verification are also increasing rapidly. Many people are being tricked into paying money for fake verification services.

In this article, I am sharing a real experience to spread awareness so that others can stay safe and avoid similar scams.

❓ What Is the Instagram Blue Tick Scam?

Scammers pretend to be Instagram representatives, agencies, or verification experts. They claim they can get your account verified quickly by charging a fee. In reality, Instagram does not allow third-party verification services.

These fraudsters target users through direct messages (DMs) and use convincing language to gain trust.

🕵️ How This Scam Usually Works

1️⃣ Scammer Contacts the User

The scammer sends a DM claiming they can provide Instagram verification within a few days. They often act professional and may pretend to be connected with Instagram support.

2️⃣ Initial Payment Demand

They ask for a small upfront payment to begin the process.
In my case, the requested amount was ₹500, which felt believable at first.

3️⃣ Additional Fake Charges

After receiving the first payment, scammers start asking for more money, such as:

  • Server charges – ₹2,000

  • Security or processing fees – ₹2,000

They keep creating new reasons and excuses to extract more money.

4️⃣ No Response After Payment

Once enough money is collected, the scammer:

  • Stops replying, or

  • Blocks the victim completely

No Instagram verification is ever done, and the money is lost.

⚠️ Important Truth About Instagram Verification

✅ Instagram does NOT charge money through DMs
✅ Verification is only available via Meta Verified, inside the Instagram app
✅ Instagram never asks for payments via UPI, screenshots, or personal chats

If someone asks for money outside the official app, it is 100% a scam.

🔍 How to Identify and Avoid Instagram Verification Scams

✔️ Instagram never sends verification offers through DMs
✔️ Official emails come only from @mail.instagram.com
✔️ Do not trust accounts promising “guaranteed blue tick”
✔️ Never share OTPs, login details, or payment screenshots
✔️ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for account security

🚔 What To Do If You Are Scammed

If you face such a scam, take these steps immediately:

  • 📌 Report the account on Instagram
    (Profile → Three dots → Report → Scam or Fraud)

  • 📌 Stop all communication with the scammer

  • 📌 Inform others by sharing your experience

  • 📌 If money is involved, file a complaint on your country’s cybercrime portal

📝 Final Thoughts

Instagram scams are increasing every day, especially those related to blue tick verification. Many innocent users lose their hard-earned money due to lack of awareness.

The best protection is knowledge and caution.
If you ever see someone offering Instagram verification for money, report them immediately.
